Owning a business has been cited as the No.
1 goal of many Americans. The Business Opportunity Series
and Expo (BOSS), to be held at the Atrium Hotel in Irvine
on Feb. 4, 2006, will help many Southern Californians realize
this goal by showcasing the different startup opportunities
and small business services available to them.
"Southern California is home to several million
entrepreneurs and the number has been growing at an average
annual rate of 10 percent since 1990," said Aggie Kobrin,
founder of Conference and Expo Connections LLC, the company
presenting BOSS. "In fact, a distinct feature of current
small business growth is the rise of one-person operations,
by far the fastest-growing segment of the self-employed.
Our conference is designed to assist prospective entrepreneurs
find the right business and give them the tools needed to
become a success."
BOSS will showcase a variety of business opportunities
available to entrepreneurs, including franchise opportunities;
businesses for sale, online, home-based businesses and network-marketing
companies. Several sponsor organizations will also be available,
offering valuable advice and services to prospective business
owners on developing and financing their own business idea.
The conference is ideal for individuals who currently run
a small business -- or aspire to -- find the ideas, products
and services to help them build their business successfully.
A distinct feature of BOSS will be the educational
workshops geared toward teaching prospective entrepreneurs
how to start, market and run a successful business venture.
According to statistics, approximately 80 percent of new
businesses fail within the first three years of starting.
The workshops are aimed at helping participants avoid becoming
part of this statistic, Kobrin said.
Among the speakers include television personality
Dr. Letitia Wright, who will tape her nationally syndicated
cable show, "The Wright Place," from the Expo. Other speakers
include: Mimi Donaldson, business consultant and nationally
renown speaker and author; Vanessa Besack, public relations
and marketing consultant and speaker; Steve Burgess, co-author
of the best-selling book, "Purpose, Passion, Abundance";
franchise consultant Rick Eggleton; professional speaker
and business coach, Susan Fiskin; Linda Hollander, author
of "Bags to Riches: 7 Success Secrets for Women in Business";
and Dawn M. Holman, a successful entrepreneur, PR and marketing
consultant and trainer.
The BOSS Expo is sponsored in part by Besack
& Associates, Business Wire, Irvine Chamber, Meetings and
Mixers, Orange County's Largest Mixer, Owl Event Promotions,

and the Seattle, Wash., areas in the spring and fall of
2006.
